I-94
TITLE: Form I-94 - Important message from Embassy of Canada
Good day,
On February 25, 2025, the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) published guidance for the requirement for alien registration in the United States: https://www.uscis.gov/ on how they intend to implement the alien registration requirement laid out in the January 20, 2025 Executive Order Protecting the American People Against Invasion.
The new guidance states that any unregistered alien who remains in the United States for more than 30 days is required to register through an online USCIS account. Canadians who enter the United States by air are automatically registered, as are any Canadians with an immigration status or visa. Most Canadians who enter by land are not registered. This group is specifically listed by USCIS as a target for the new registration requirement.
The process for registration has not yet been implemented. Current USCIS information online reads: DHS will soon announce a form and process for aliens to complete the registration requirement.
We are seeking clarification on implementation timelines and impacts. Please refer to Travel advice and advisories for United States for updates, once they become available: https://travel.gc.ca/
Note: I will be checking this site daily and will provide any updates

Registration
Canadians and other foreign nationals visiting the United States for periods
longer than 30 days must be registered with the United States Government.
Failure to comply with the registration requirement could result in penalties,
fines, and misdemeanor prosecution. You should consult the U.S. Citizenship
and Immigration Services (USCIS) website to determine if you need to
register with USCIS and how to do so. You can verify if you have been
automatically registered on entry to the U.S. by looking up your I-94
admission form on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website.
