Pouns’ happy place was at camp on Manitou Lake. Over the course of 27 years, he created many cherished memories with family friends, and great neighbors. He was known as grandpa to everyone who knew him.
As a grandfather, Gilles’ proudest moments was being a mentor to his grandchildren. Grandpa’s proudest accomplishments was being the first to show his grandchildren how to fish, ride ATVs, motorbikes, hunt, and anything else he or they could think of. He cherished spending time with his family, friends, and especially his beloved grandchildren.
His passion for the outdoors led him to become an avid fisherman and hunter. Gilles was a proud member of the Hunters and Anglers Club in Verner and the Hunt group on Manitoulin Island where he formed many enduring friendships.
Grandpa was a people person with the unique ability of bringing people together for a good time. He was often referred to as a social butterfly, whistling his way around to announce his arrival.
Husband, dad, grampa thank you for the countless ways you've helped make our life what it is today. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His warm smile, generous heart, and love for his family and friends will forever be cherished.
As his wishes, no celebration will be held. Funeral arrangements in care of the Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.

suffering of the last 2 years, for him, was nothing compared to the
regret he had of leaving me alone and not being able to take care of
me and my well being.
I
will miss him forever.

of you who want to pay him a last tribute can do it Saturday
September 30th from 1 PM to 4PM at the funerary complex Alfred Dallaire Memoria, located at

Hi, these thanks are addressed personally to each of you. Thank you for all the encouragement, kind words, and beautiful thoughts that you sent me. Bob also leaves to mourn his daughter, Nancy, his sister Lili (Michel), his sisters-in-law Lise and Ginette, his brothers-in-law Alain and Réjean, as well as his nieces and nephews. My love will also be missed by our great friend Nicole. Bob left me after two years where he endured his illness. His anal cancer was relieved by medication, even with that he was often in pain, too proud to say it, but I saw it, I knew it. The last two months when he was in palliative care at the hospital and at the CHSLD, Bob was serene, always in a good mood, joking, and satisfied with the 80 busy years he had lived, even if he did not believe that he was going to leave. The last 8 days have been very hard, Bob stopped eating and drinking. After several supplications my love has finally left, we do not let our animals suffer but humans do. I am calm and realistic, Bob has suffered too much in silence over the last 2 years. Your kind words have done me good but I think the hardest part for me is yet to come.
An individual thank you to all of you,
Francine
